For the first time ever in the development of maglev transportation, FASTRANSIT's SPM technology will allow maglev vehicles to change tracks or guideways quickly and easily without the need for large mechanical switching mechanisms such as those used by maglev trains operating in Germany and Japan.  With its instant magnetic guideway switches, SPM technology significantly reduces infrastructure costs and improves both efficiency and routing flexibility.  Mile for mile, an SPM maglev guideway can be built for about the same cost as one lane of freeway --with twenty times the carrying capacity.

Cleaner, quieter, and more efficient than other modes of transportation, maglev trains are capable of traveling at speeds greater than 300 mph.  Because of high capital costs, however, the technology has not been commercially viable....until now.  Utilizing SPM maglev technology, railroad and subway tracks can be easily retrofitted for maglev use, eliminating the need to replace existing infrastructure and significantly reducing capital outlay.  With FASTRANSIT's SPM maglev system, America could leapfrog Europe's high speed rail approach to create the ground transportation of the future.
